Enrollment in the Watertown Public Schools is contingent upon residency and completion of all the required documents.

All students who will be five years old before September 1, 2024, will need to register online for kindergarten. Even if your child has already been registered for Early Steps Preschool/PreK or testing in the Watertown Public Schools they need to register. Parents will need to provide/upload all the registration documents to the online registration - Birth Certificate, Parent ID, a lease or real estate tax bill, a utility bill (electric gas, oil, or cable bill only), and a U.S. Physical Exam Form with all immunizations since birth dated within a year of September 2024.
Click the link for New Student Registration 2024-2025. Do not use this link to register for the 2025-26 school year. You will start by making a Parent Account. This requires a working email address. If your child is a Returning Student (Early Steps Preschool, Prekindergarten or has been evaluated by the Watertown Early Childhood Office) please answer “Yes” as a Returning Student/has attended WPS.

Requirements: Children must be a resident of Watertown and be 5 years old before September 1, 2024. Children who will be 6 years old before September 1st, 2024 must attend first grade unless you sent a request to Superintendent Deanne Galdston and it was approved.
Documents needed to register:
*Copy of Parent Photo ID
*Two Proofs of Residence in Watertown (one from List A and one from List B):
List A: real estate tax bill, lease, or notarized affidavit form signed by the homeowner (if you are not on the deed/lease, the affidavit must be accompanied by a copy of the owner's Mortgage bill/ deed/real estate tax bill.)
List B: utility bill- electric, gas, oil, cable or confirmation of service notice/service agreement/new customer letter (for those who recently moved and have not yet received a bill) (Note: bank statements, telephone bill, excise tax or income tax documents are NOT acceptable.)
*A copy of the original birth certificate- does not need to be translated or a copy of the passport if you do not have a birth certificate. If the Birth Certificate is in a language other than English, please also include a copy of the child’s passport.
* A copy of a current U.S. Physical Exam Form which includes all immunization. If your child’s PE form will not be dated within 12 mos. of September 2023, make an appointment for a new physical before September. This is a required document in MA. Immunization records must be translated into English into the U.S. Physical form to be accepted by the school nurse.

Parental Notification Regarding English Language Education

All students entering school must provide a copy of the following information from the pediatrician's office to the school nurse prior to starting school. Any student without the following documentation will be excluded from school due to non-compliance with Massachusetts state law.
Physicals:
All students must submit a signed physical examination performed by a health care practitioner. The physical must be conducted within the past 12 months of September for Preschool, PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, 4th grade, 7th grade, and 10th grade. Please provide a copy of a current physical to the school nurse.
Immunizations:
The following immunizations are required for all students. Documentation of date, month, and year from physician must be provided.
Preschool and PreKindergarten:
1-4 doses of Hib
4 doses of DTap/DTP vaccine
3 doses of Polio vaccine
1 dose of MMR vaccine; laboratory evidence of immunity is acceptable
3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine
1 dose of Varicella vaccine; physician-certified reliable history of chickenpox disease or laboratory evidence of immunity is acceptable
1 Lead Screen with result
Kindergarten-6th Grade:
5 doses of DTap/DTP vaccine
4 doses of Polio vaccine
2 doses of MMR vaccine; laboratory evidence of immunity is acceptable
3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine

1 Vision Screen (required for Kindergarten only)
7th-10th Grade:
In addition to the required vaccinations for entering Kindergarten, the following immunizations are required for all students entering 7th grade:
1 dose of TDap vaccine
1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine MenACWY
11th-12th Grade:
2 doses of Meningococcal vaccine MenACWY (2nd dose must be given on or after the 16th birthday); 1 dose is acceptable if it was given on or after the 16th birthday.
