Enrollment in the Watertown Public Schools is contingent upon residency and completion of all the required documents.

All students who will be five years old before September 1, 2025, will need to register online for kindergarten. Even if your child has already been registered for Early Steps Preschool/PreK or testing in the Watertown Public Schools they need to register. Parents will need to provide/upload all the registration documents to the online registration - Birth Certificate, Parent ID, a lease or real estate tax bill, a utility bill (electric gas, oil, or cable bill only), and a U.S. Physical Exam Form with all immunizations since birth dated within a year of September 2025.
Here is the 2025-26 Registration Link. You will start by making a Parent Account. This requires a working email address. If your child is a Returning Student (Early Steps Preschool, Prekindergarten or has been evaluated by the Watertown Early Childhood Office) please answer “Yes” as a Returning Student/has attended WPS.

Requirements: Children must be a resident of Watertown and be 5 years old before September 1, 2025. Children who will be 6 years old before September 1st, 2025 must attend first grade unless you sent a request to Superintendent Deanne Galdston and it was approved.
Documents needed to register:
*Copy of Parent Photo ID
*Two Proofs of Residence in Watertown (one from List A and one from List B):
List A: real estate tax bill, lease, or notarized affidavit form signed by the homeowner (if you are not on the deed/lease, the affidavit must be accompanied by a copy of the owner's Mortgage bill/ deed/real estate tax bill.)
List B: utility bill- electric, gas, oil, cable or confirmation of service notice/service agreement/new customer letter (for those who recently moved and have not yet received a bill) (Note: bank statements, telephone bill, excise tax or income tax documents are NOT acceptable.)
*A copy of the original birth certificate- does not need to be translated or a copy of the passport if you do not have a birth certificate. If the Birth Certificate is in a language other than English, please also include a copy of the child’s passport.
*A copy of a current Physical Exam Form which includes all immunization. The physical exam must be conducted within one year prior to entrance to school. This is a required document in MA.

According to Massachusetts State Law all students entering school must provide a copy of the following information from a licensed healthcare provider to the school nurse prior to starting school. Students without the following documentation will not be permitted to start school. Examples of school health record forms as well as a full guide of Massachusetts School Immunization requirements can be found at the bottom of the page.
Physical Exam:
All new student registrants as well as students entering Preschool, Prekindergarten, kindergarten,4th grade, 7th grade, and 10th grade must submit a signed physical examination performed by a licensed healthcare provider. The physical exam must be conducted within one year prior to entrance to school. For new student registrants a TB risk assessment must be included on the physical exam. Please provide a copy of a current physical exam in English to the school nurse.
Immunization Certificate:
The following immunizations are required for all students. Documentation from a licensed healthcare provider must include the day, month, and year the immunization was administered. Please provide a copy of the immunization certificate in English to the school nurse.
Preschool and PreKindergarten:
Kindergarten-6th Grade:
7th-10th Grade:
In addition to the required vaccinations for entering Kindergarten, the following immunizations are required for all students entering 7th grade:
11th-12th Grade:
2 doses of Meningococcal vaccine MenACWY (2nd dose must be given on or after the 16th birthday); 1 dose is acceptable if it was given on or after the 16th birthday.
Your healthcare provider may complete the following forms, or you may use the physical exam form and immunization certificate provided by the provider, as long as all required information as stated above is included:
