Th
e pathway to teaching and learning in the 21st Century offers exciting challenges andinnovations for our students and faculty. Our goal as educators, policymakers, and community members has been to prepare all our students for success in the emerging 21st century world. While we continue to value a rigorous academic curriculum, we have also prioritized the 21st Century “4C’s” as a necessary set of competencies for our students. Thus, in addition to the“3R’s”, we are infusing teaching and learning with the “4C’s”: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity. With the integration of these skills, it is our aim to prepare students to live fulfilling and successful lives in a world in which new jobs, new computer skills, and new approaches to problem solving are crucial.
The Office of Teaching & Learning is responsible for a broad range of areas, including: curriculum review and coordination, assessment, professional development, mentoring and induction, supervision and evaluation, regular federal education and competitive grants and various educational initiatives. Each curriculum area is managed by a curriculum or program coordinator or a curriculum task force working with the Assistant Superintendent or a principal. Learning expectations, curriculum plans, and program details are available on the Department, Program, and Task Force web sites.
